Removing and packaging the racking became one of the first steps in preparing the former Aspen Surgical facility for ANDRITZ BCN. More importantly, that exchange set the tone for the relationship that followed. When a need came up, Kent Facilities found a way to help.
Facility Improvements Built Around the Customer
From there, more questions followed.
Could Kent Facilities make the building modifications needed for the new crane access? Yes.
Could the team construct a new compressor room? Yes.
Could they modify existing overhead door openings to accommodate larger doors? Yes.
And when ANDRITZ BCN decided midway through the project to add a shipping office within the warehouse? Yes again.

A Growing Scope of Industrial Facility Improvements
The original crane pad scope expanded into improvements throughout the facility. In total, Kent Facilities:
- Removed and packaged existing warehouse racking.
- Installed 38 crane pads for two overhead cranes and four jib cranes, including removal of the existing six-inch floor, excavation, reinforcement and concrete placement.
- Modified the existing CMM room and warehouse for crane access, including a 12-foot by 14-foot wall opening, raised ceiling area, and associated HVAC, lighting and fire suppression modifications.
- Constructed a new exterior compressor room, including foundations, slab-on-grade, structural steel stud framing, insulated metal panels, interior finishes and fire suppression.
- Enlarged two existing overhead door openings from 12 feet by 14 feet to 14 feet by 16 feet, requiring modifications to the existing foundations, structure, insulated panels, concrete drives and bollards.
- Completed office improvements, including removing 18 existing cubicles and constructing a new electric fireplace in the president’s office.
The 15-foot by 45-foot shipping office was added midway through the project, after Kent Facilities had become familiar with the building and ANDRITZ BCN’s operation. The team incorporated the new space into its work, completing the steel stud partitions, dust-cap joist system, doors, windows, ceilings, lighting and fire suppression.
“As the project progressed and things came up; I knew I could bring them to the team and they’d help find a solution. They understood what we were trying to accomplish, were responsive when things changed and became a team we knew we could count on,” said ANDRITZ BCN Business Development Manager Cody Newton.
